Wilfred, die 71 jaar is geworden, was vastberaden dat hij er nog een hockeyjaar bij aan wilde knopen. Met 57 jaar aaneengesloten lidmaatschap van de Arnhemsche Hockeyclub, was hij geruime tijd het langst spelende lid. Daarvoor werd hij in 2008 nog gehuldigd.
